Power over Ethernet, PoE, is a technology that simultaneously transmitting power and data to other devices through RJ45 in the Ethernet network. This technology is commonly applied to devices like Internet phones, wireless base stations, IP cameras, computer devices and other equipment that can be powered by Ethernet. The PoE equipment starts without power plug/socket, reducing the time and cost associated with power cord configuration, and therefore lowering the overall expense of the system.

What is PoE technology?

The complete PoE system consists of two parts:

Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and Powered Device (PD).

1. Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE): The power supply equipment (PSE) includes Ethernet network switches, routers, and hubs that support PoE function.

2. Powered Device (PD): The powered devices (PD) mainly include PoE IP cameras, as well as applications such as PoE speakers and PoE LED.
