The main purpose the safety standards of IEC 62368-1 was to cover and supplant the safety standards of IEC 60950 (ICT equipment) and IEC 60065 (AV equipment). The 2nd edition was released in 2014 and then the revised 3rd edition was published in 2018. In Europe, EN 62368-1: 2014 became mandatory on December 20th, 2020, for replacing EN 60950-1 and EN 60065.

So far, the 3rd edition of IEC 62368-1 is the latest edition. Moreover, in this edition, it improves and clarifies requirements and several requirements in the previous 2nd edition are substituted. In Europe, the corresponding safety standards of IEC 62368-1 3rd edition is called EN IEC 62368-1: 2020.

Cincon AC/DC Power Supplies with safety approvals of  IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 3rd edition:

In Europe, EN IEC 62368-1: 2020 (3rd edition) was planned to replace EN 62368-1: 2014 (2nd edition) on January 6th, 2023. So far this plan seems to be a little bit behind the schedule. However, for system engineers of devices, they would prefer selecting AC/DC power modules with the IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 3rd edition to fasten the certificate process of their devices.
