Description

The PI2001 is a discrete high-speed Active ORing controller with similar functionality and feature set, for use with industry standard single or paralleled MOSFETs.
The P12002 is a high-speed Active ORing controller IC with a load disconnect feature that functions similar to the PI2122, but is designed for use with industry standard back-to-back N-channel MOSFETs.

The PI2003 controller is specifically optimized for use in -48 V redundant power architectures, and is suitable for systems requiring operation during input voltage transients up to 100 V for 100 ms. The low quiescent current of the PI2003 enables simple low-loss biasing directly from the -48V rail.

The PI2007 Cool-ORing® solution is a universal high-speed Active ORing controller IC designed for use with N-channel MOSFETs in redundant power system architectures. The PI2007 Cool-ORing controller enables an extremely low power loss solution with fast dynamic response to fault conditions, critical for high availability systems. The PI2007 controls single or parallel MOSFETs to address Active ORing applications protecting against power source failures. The PI2007 has an internal charge pump enabling an ideal solution in 12 V or 36-75 V bus high-side Active ORing applications.

The Cool-ORing PI2122 is a complete full-function Active ORing solution with a circuit breaker feature, integrating a high-speed MOSFET controller and very low on-state resistance MOSFET in the high density thermally enhanced 5mm x 7mm land grid array package. The PI2122 is designed for use in redundant power system architectures, suitable for ≤5Vbus applications where added protection against load fault conditions is required. The PI2122 is a 7 Volt, 12 Amp solution with integrated back-to-back configured MOSFETs with an effective 6m Ohm typical on-state resistance enabling very high efficiency. The PI2122 provides very fast dynamic response to both input power source and output load fault conditions, typically within 140 ns and 170 ns respectively, acting as a true bi-directional switch. In addition to responding to a reverse current fault condition, when the PI2122 detects excessive forward current, over temperature, under and over-voltage faults , it will rapidly turn-off the internal MOSFETs to provide a load disconnect feature. The PI2122 also provides a user programmable auto-retry off-time during excessive forward current fault conditions.

The Cool-ORing PI2121 / PI2123 / PI2125 are complete full-function Active ORing solutions with integrated high-speed ORing MOSFET controllers and very low on-state resistance MOSFETs that address a variety of redundant bus applications, providing very low power dissipation while achieving very fast dynamic response, typically within 160 ns, to system level power source fault conditions. The PI2121 is an 8 Volt, 24 Amp solution suitable for ≤5Vbus applications, the PI2123 is a 15 Volt, 15 Amp solution suitable for ≤9.6Vbus applications and the PI2125 is a 30 Volt, 12 Amp solution suitable for 12Vbus applications.

The PI2127 Cool-ORing® is a complete full-function Active ORing solution with a high-speed ORing MOSFET controller and a very low on-state resistance MOSFET designed for use in redundant power system architectures. The PI2127 Cool-ORing solution is offered in an extremely small, thermally enhanced 7mm x 8mm LGA package and can be used in high side, medium voltage Active ORing applications. The PI2127 enables extremely low power loss with fast dynamic response to fault conditions, critical for high availability systems.

Description

The PI2001 Cool-ORing® solution is a universal high-speed Active ORing controller IC designed for use with N-channel MOSFETs in redundant power system architectures. The PI2001 controller enables an extremely low power loss solution with fast dynamic response to fault conditions, critical for high availability systems. The PI2001 controls single or parallel MOSFETs to address Active ORing applications protecting against power source failures. The PI2001 can be used in either high-side or low-side Active ORing applications and a master / slave feature allows the paralleling of IC / MOSFET chipsets for high current Active ORing. The PI2001 provides an active low fault flag output to the system during excessive forward current, reverse current, light load, overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature fault conditions.

The PI2007 Cool-ORing controller enables an extremely low power loss solution with fast dynamic response to fault conditions, critical for high availability systems. The PI2007 controls single or parallel MOSFETs to address Active ORing applications protecting against power source failures. The PI2007 has an internal charge pump enabling an ideal solution in 12 V or 36-75 V bus high-side Active ORing applications.

The gate drive output turns the MOSFET on in normal steady state operation, while achieving high-speed turn-off during input power source fault conditions, that causes reverse current flow. The controller auto-resets once the fault clears. The MOSFET drain-to-source voltage is monitored to detect reverse current flow. The PI2007 has an internal charge pump to drive the gate of a high side N-Channel MOSFET above the VC input. There is an internal shunt regulator at the VC input for high voltage applications.

The back-to-back MOSFET provides a true bi-directional switch capability to disconnect load fault conditions that may induce excessive forward current and device over-temperature. The gate drive is removed from the back-to-back MOSFETs upon detection of such faults and has an auto-retry programmable off-time. The PI2122 Cool-ORing solution is offered in an extremely small, thermally enhanced LGA package and can be used in low voltage (≤5Vbus) high side Active ORing applications. The PI2122 enables extremely low power loss with fast dynamic response, critical for high availability systems. A short circuit detection feature allows user definition of a short condition enabling minimum duty cycle into a short.
