Descripton QPI-Series

The QPI-3LZ to QPI-8LZ are active EMI filters providing conducted common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) attenuation from 150 kHz to 30 MHz (CISPR22 range). The proprietary active filtering circuit provides superior attenuation at low frequencies intended to support EN Class B limits, including PICMG® 3.0 for ATCA boards. In comparison to passive solutions, the use of active filtering reduces the volume of the common-mode choke, providing a low profile, surface mount device. Smaller size saves valuable board real estate and the reduced height enhances airflow in blade applications.

The QPI-9LZ to QPI-12LZ are filters, optimized for V•I Chips, are specifically designed to attenuate conducted common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise of Vicor’s V•I Chip products to comply with the CISPR22 standard requirements for conducted noise measurements. Designed for the telecom, industrial and military bus ranges, the V•I Chip EMI filter supports filtering system boards to the EN55022 Class B limits.

QPI-7LZ

The QPI–7 is the low voltage version of the QPI-8 SiP product that includes the total Hot-Swap function with
an EMI filter for DC-DC converter applications. The EMI filter provides active conducted common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise attenuation over the CISPR22 frequency range of 150 kHz to 30 MHz. The QPI-7 is designed for use on a 24 Vdc bus. The inrush current limit and circuit breaker are designed to deliver over 100 W of power over the typical 24 V converter operating range of 18 to 36 V.

Description QPI-8LZ

The QPI-8 is the industry’s first System-in-Package (SiP) designed to integrate a total Hot-Swap function with an active EMI filter. The product aligns with the AdvancedTCA™ PICMG® 3.0‚ requirements for hot insertion and board level conducted noise limitations. The EMI filter provides active conducted common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise attenuation from 150 kHz to 30 MHz. The QPI-8 is designed for use on a 48 or 60 Vdc bus (36 – 76 Vdc). The inrush current limit and circuit breaker are designed to satisfy the 200 W per board PICMG® 3.0 limit up to 70°C PCB temperature around the QPI-8. The undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds can be trimmed separately via the UVEN and OV inputs using external series resistors. The Power Good active-high output provides optocoupler drive for a converter’s active-low enable or active-high by connecting the diode in series with the Power Good output. The QPI-8 is available in a 1.0″ x 1.0″ x 0.2″ SiP (System-in-Package) with LGA mounting. QPI-EVAL1 kits are available with a mounted QPI-8 and screw terminals for easy insertion and testing.

Description QPI-9LZ

The QPI-9 includes the total Hot-Swap function along with an EMI filter for V•I Chip applications. The EMI filter is designed to attenuate the conducted common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) noise generated by the higher switching frequencies of the V•I Chips. The QPI-9 is designed for use on a 24 Vdc bus. The inrush current limit and circuit breaker are designed to deliver over 140 W of power with an input voltage of 24 V on the converter. The QPI-9′s internal fault timer allows it to operate safely in the event of a short across its output. The QPI-9 enters a retry mode where it will attempt to restart until the short condition is removed. The undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds can be trimmed separately via the UVEN and OV inputs using external series resistors. The QPI-9 provides two Power Good signals, PWRGD1 referenced to the input ground and PWRGD2 to the output ground, which can be used to enable other circuits along with the V•I Chip converter.

The filter is designed to operate up to 36 Vdc and supports 7 A loads up to 60°C without derating. Designed for the military and industrial bus range, the V•I Chip EMI Filter supports the PICMG® 3.0 specification for filtering system boards to the EN55022 Class B limits. Two of these filters can be connected in parallel to double current capability up to 14 A with a minor effect on attenuation at 1 MHz.

The filter is designed to operate up to 76 Vdc and supports 7A loads up to 60°C without de-rating. Designed for the telecom bus range, the
V•I Chip EMI Filter supports the PICMG® 3.0 specification for filtering system boards to the EN55022 Class B limits.
Two of these filters can be connected in parallel to double current capability up to 14 Amps while still maintaining the minimum specified attenuation performance.
